Organisations on the ground in rural and remote communities, such as Frontier Services, report shocking evidence of poor mental health, such as high suicide rates, in mining communities. The geographical and social isolation, and fly in / fly out nature of the work may be contributing. Mining companies must take responsibility for this vast, complex, and largely hidden issue, and urgently fund programs to address this area of need.
