The National Disability Insurance Scheme has created significant gaps in 'thin provider' areas, leading to decreased opportunity for therapy and continuity in care for clients forced into a private, market based system where providers are not present.
Clients with a disability and under the NDIS should have access to both public and private providers if available and the funding model needs to be changed to allow NDIS participants to continue to see public providers, and public providers able to draw down funds for their organisation from the NDIS.
