14th NRHC Recommendation

Local leadership is at the heart of social networking, and defining aspirations and creating strategies for economic and cultural development. Leadership is a foundation stone for health. Leadership training and development for families, children, youth and adults may be the crucial element in realising a national improvement in population health that seems stagnated over many policy cycles.
Recommend that the National Rural Health Alliance establish a portfolio around the development of community leadership (across all area as of endeavour) and the engagement of rural health agencies and public policy with that leadership, and by the next conference, define an approach to encourage a greater access to leadership training for all ages, in rural communities for all ages.

It would be great for the NRHA to partner with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation in this space.
