14th NRHC Recommendation

Need for more paediatric services to remote areas as priority in health prevention & chronic disease treatment as long term programs. Too many different agencies delivering stop gap services instead of sustained regular service. These children are our future & deserve quality healthcare.

Recommendation Type:

The RACP needs to make it easier for trainee paediatricians to experience rural practice, especially the out of hospital or primary and preventative health aspects. Too few newly minted paediatricians have experience outside hospital care, even though 90% of paediatrics is outpatient stuff.

Screening services must always be followed up with pathways of care which means regular, consistent, preferably local service providers.
