• Consumer insights can help shape health services and systems for the better. Health consumers urge Primary Health Networks, Local Hospital Networks, service providers and health professionals throughout rural and remote Australia to take consumer engagement to the next level – beyond provision of information to consumers to meaningful consultation and involvement in service commissioning and development through genuine collaboration and partnership with consumers.

agree - co-production and co-design measures need to be introduced particularly in mainstream service settings. Consumer engagement has been well-established in mental health and more recently aged care and it is now embedded in the quality accreditation and service evaluation processes tied to funding. Consumer Directed Care is a reality in the aged and disability service sectors and must be a key focus in mainstream health settings as well. Ignore at your peril.
