"These are solid initiatives, but they are just the beginning", says Mark Diamond, Alliance CEO.

The National Rural Health Alliance has been poring over the detail of the recent Budget, and what it might mean for health in rural and remote Australia.

Here is our position paper examining the various measures announced as part of the Turnbull Government's Stronger Rural Health Strategy.

We look at which programs aim to improve the health workforce distribution, including a new incentive for allied health.

There's also a look at announcements on Indigenous health, mental health and aged care.

The budget detail is on the Health Department's website.

The Labor Opposition has also made announcements around health, mainly regards hospital funding.

We provide some detail, including a link to a recent speech by Catherine King, Shadow Health Minister.

The Alliance is also looking for feedback about how the Budget measures affect you in the field.  Please send comments, reviews, observations to
